Bookings for goods meant to last at least three years rose 3.5 percent, according to the Commerce Department's report on December 24. The median estimate called for a 2 percent advance. The positive November bookings compares to a 0.7 percent drop in the prior month.
Non-military bookings experienced the largest increase at 21.8 percent. Dow component Boeing (NYSE: BA) said it received orders for 110 aircrafts in November compared to 79 in October.
Auto sales rose 3.3 percent in the month, the highest since February. On an annualized basis, November's 16.3 million units sold represents the highest reading since 2007.

However, I expect that Intel is at risk of having a significant marketing problem trying to sell a dual core product into a world of quad core phones, even if the dual core part delivers better performance/watt. I further expect that from what is currently known about Bay Trail's GPU (4 EU Gen7 GPU), it is unlikely that -- unless Intel is either using Imagination's (IGNMF.PK) next generation PowerVR 6 or a beefed up Gen7 design for the "Merrifield" SoC -- it will be as competitive with the Snapdragon 800 on the GPU side of things, which could pose as an additional headwind to adoption. Walt Disney rose 1% to $85.48, making it the biggest percentage gainer in the Dow Industrial Averages. International Game Technology jumped 14% to $55.31 today, putting it atop the S&P 500. Reuters reported that International Game Technology has hired Morgan Stanley to help sell the company.
